7 facts

Sarah tagged me to write seven random facts about myself, and I think seven is about all I can manage!

1. I am a hermit. I work at home and can’t stand socialising. If I go to a party I tend to leave within 15 minutes, I am no good at talking to people and really don’t like small talk at all.

2. I used to work in the film industry, having studied a film degree. For a while myself, my wife and a couple of friends thought we had something going. We made short films and even got some funding from Southern Arts to make our last film. I still miss it.

3. I have had motion sickness for the last three years or so. I feel like I’m on a trampoline the whole time.

I believe it’s something to do with my neck trapping a blood vessel (at least that’s what the physio thought and when I carried my son on my shoulders it crushed my neck and made the dizziness a lot worse). I have been unable to drive for that time and can’t see the situation improving. I had scans at the hospital which were inconclusive.

4. I’d rather work in nature than in front of a computer. I would love to get a job in conservation but they say it doesn’t pay well. This computer job is going to kill me.

5. I wish I could leave this country and live somewhere less crowded. I’ve never liked the UK, particularly, though it has some wonderful scenery our government is obsessed with promoting road use.

6. I don’t watch television, apart from Lost, which I really enjoy!

7. I don’t know enough people to send this 7 facts tag onto.

I concur. I too am not a fan of the UK - love the scenery (in places) but the people and the local authorities stink. We’ve looked at moving to Canada and Oz but don’t have the finances for either right now… by the time we do the kids’ll be in school and then… well is it too late by then. I hate driving, but I can’t imagine not being able to… catch 22. I want to be a forester.

Hi. I stumbled on your blog while cruising the iStock forms trying to learn vectors (I’m down2thexroads). You caught my attention with you dizziness, and the nice felt brushes:-) I’ve had degrees of dizziness for 25 years, sometimes so bad I can only lay in bed and lay perfectly still. Sometimes I get dizzy in my sleep, don’t realize it, jump out of bed, smack into a wall and slide down it like the roadrunner. It’s an inner ear disturbance with a name something like Meniere’s Syndrome. I don’t know why, but it also makes it impossible for me to lay on my stomach and lift my head without getting dizzy. That sounds alot like the position your head would be in with your son on your shoulders. It has something to do with the eustachion (sp?) tubes of the earns not draining and throwing off the balance center in the ears. I’m dizzy all the time now but don’t really have a problem. I had to train my eyes and the bottoms of my feet (the other two things that help us keep our balance) to take over for what my ears can’t do. I hope the motion sickness is your ears and not the blood vessels. Good luck with it. BTW, I hate working at the computer, too.
