Sick of counterfeit items on eBay
I’m really fed up with eBay, I think I may only use it very infrequently now. In my opinion the issues I had with eBay have got worse, not better. (Remember, these are only my opinions).
The quantity of counterfeit goods on eBay is just shocking, and I don’t think they do nearly enough to deal with it.
Just recently Lorna bought a DAB radio which was well reviewed by Which? magazine. When it turned up it all seemed fine, but the display only partially worked – only some bits of it displayed anything – which made it useless. Lorna contacted the seller who said “oh that’s fine, mine is exactly the same”. But, it’s not fine and the manufacturer confirmed it was a corrupt display. Lorna managed to get a refund from the seller, thankfully.
Now I’ve just been stung purchasing a Gameboy Advance game for my son, which he’s been looking for for some time. I knew something was dodgy when it arrived as the game packaging was all flat and had never been made up (the box was flat, the box inner was flat and had to be assembled by pushing it together). The printing was also of an inferior quality – not bad, but I could easily see it was not of the standard you’d expect. Then we discovered the game would not play; it kept freezing within a minute or two.
The thing I’m really disappointed about is that it’s become much harder to tell the counterfeit goods from the genuine. These sellers looked genuine and had good feedback. Either buyers are getting more stupid, or they simply aren’t bothered to deal with these dodgy sellers once they’ve received counterfeit goods.
Combine that with recent experiences buying vinyl on eBay where the description doesn’t really match the actual item, bad packaging, a complete lack of communication and I’ve ended up with a very sour taste in my mouth with eBay.
