XO2 crossover built

In order to get the subwoofer working I would need a crossover filter and a single channel amplifier for the subwoofer. There were a variety of options; buy a dedicated “plate” amplifier which has everything built in, maybe buy a dedicated subwoofer filter and a hi-fi amp from somewhere, perhaps build a kit or even build the electronics myself from a circuit diagram (or schematic).

WO32 cab 6

After having built my Parker Audio 98 MkII loudspeakers I decided the next project would be to build a really good subwoofer. Heat Sink Burn

I finally got my 12 watt amplifier working and I found out the hard way, by burning a nice impression of the top of a heatsink into my finger. I found one track I had not cut, made that cut, powered up the amp and discovered that what was previously cold was suddenly and very painfully burning.

Anyway, at least it works now, I can build the other channel, build an enclosure for it and get started on the next project. It sounded pretty good by the way.

Hi-fi projects update

Parkers Finished

“I was totally blown away by just how smooth, detailed, focused and fast they were. When you start hearing new details, new textures in music you have known and loved for years then you KNOW you are onto something good and I was hearing a lot of new stuff with these speakers!”

This is my account of building these loudspeakers which has been a hugely rewarding project. It’s a long post but if you are interested in building them yourself I hope that it may be of some value.
